MIT and Massachusetts Create Regional Quantum Research Laboratory

Friends — an AI-world update: MIT and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are establishing the Quantum Systems Laboratory (QSL). The state is contributing $25M to complement federal funding. Construction in Building 39 may begin this summer.

QSL will integrate quantum computers, sensors and interconnects, granting researchers access to specialized equipment for biosciences, defense and other applications.

The build is expected to create ~150 construction jobs and 75–100 supply‑chain roles, while supporting startups and the regional ecosystem.
