YouTube to Automatically Label Photorealistic AI‑Generated or AI‑Altered Videos

Colleagues, an AI update: YouTube will automatically label photorealistic videos that were created or substantially altered by AI.
— Internal systems will add labels when 'significant photorealistic AI' is detected; labels will be more prominent beneath the player and in Shorts.
— Creators must disclose AI usage; if they do not, YouTube will apply the label. Labels cannot be removed for videos created with YouTube tools or containing C2PA metadata.
— Labels do not affect recommendations or monetization. YouTube is also expanding deepfake detection tools.
Why this matters: it increases transparency and imposes new moderation obligations.
Do you consider these measures sufficient to protect audiences?
