Android introduces Pause Point — a 10‑second pause to curb doomscrolling

Friends, I’d like to share an Android update: Google has added Pause Point to combat “doomscrolling”.
- What happened: Pause Point inserts a 10‑second pause when you open apps you mark as distracting (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
- How it works: the pause intercepts launch, offers a breathing exercise or alternative apps, and lets you set a timer immediately.
- Context: it partly addresses wellbeing concerns and regulatory pressure.
- Disabling: it’s not easy to turn off — a phone reboot is required.
Why it matters: it promotes more mindful app use and reduces time waste.
