Oracle laid off thousands and refused to improve severance terms

Friends, a tech update: Oracle carried out mass layoffs and declined to amend exit compensation terms.
Briefly:
- Reports indicate 20–30k were dismissed by email; many lost system access immediately.
- Oracle offered 4 weeks' pay for the first year + 1 additional week per year, capped at 26 weeks; one month of COBRA; unvested RSUs were not accelerated.
- A group of employees (~90 signatures) requested enhancements comparable to other tech firms, but no negotiations occurred.
Why it matters: severance terms and employment status (remote/WARN) determine protections for employees during cuts.
Do you think there should be standardized severance norms for mass layoffs?
